What are the prices?

What are the sizes?

We have a variety of apartment sizes ranging from:

·          One Bedroom

·          One Bedroom plus Study 

·          Two Bedroom

·          Two Bedroom plus Sunroom

·          Penthouse and Sub-penthouse

Do I own the apartment?

No. All the MacKillop Grange apartments are vailable on a loan licence. MacKillop Grange
will always retain ownership of the buildings.

What is offered to buyers is a lifetime lease to occupy the apartment?

This lease/licence is terminated when the resident decides to move elsewhere, requires nursing care or upon death.

What are the ongoing costs?

From July 1, 2024, a maintenance fee of $435 per month is charged for each apartment, regardless of apartment size and number of occupants.

Is there a capital gain on the apartments?

No, as MacKillop Grange owns the apartment.

Is there an on-site Manager?

Yes, MacKillop Grange has an on-site Manager, 5 days a week and can be contacted at weekends in emergencies.

What does the Maintenance fee cover?

·          Council rates

·          Building insurance

·          Lift maintenance

·          VitalCall (emergency call response system)

·          Upkeep of the gardens

·          Cleaning of common areas

·          Rubbish collection

·          General repairs for the apartment, i.e. plumber or electrician if required

Are car parking spaces included?

A car space can be purchased for $25,000. Car spaces work on a retention fee basis of 7% a year for 5 years*.

I.e. If you move out after 5 years, you would receive $16,250 back.

How does the refund of the Loan Licence Agreement work?

As part of the loan licence agreement with MacKillop Grange, the church retains 7% per year of the in-going contribution for a maximum of 5 years, as a Retention Fee.

For example, if you buy in at $400,000 and move out after 6 years, you would receive a payout
of $260,000.

What are the advantages of living at MacKillop Grange?

Becoming a resident means entering a secure, pastorally rich community where you are surrounded by friendly neighbours of a similar age. 

Residents care for their personal surroundings and the maintenance is taken care of. So no heavy gardening or pulling rubbish bins about.

You are minutes from the shops, art galleries, cinema, cafés, library, banks and public transport.

What communal and recreational facilities are offered at MacKillop Grange?

We currently have groups for card games and scrabble, plus on a monthly basis residents organise happy hour, opera nights as well as our Sunday movie group.

Residents are free to use either community area for private events, with the approval from our Residents’ Committee.

The ground floor area has a kitchen and bathroom.

Does MacKillop Grange offer medical and nursing facilities?

MacKillop Grange is a self-care facility within a welcoming pastoral community. Our management company has worked in aged care for over 30 years.

They have many contacts throughout Sydney,
and can assist you through transition into a
nursing home.

Are there any stairs?

Lift access is available to all levels including the basement car park. There is also a fire escape 
in each block.

Is there an internal Personal Emergency response system?

24 hour back to base alarm system is provided for each apartment.

Alarm buttons in each bathroom. Residents are provided with either a neck pendant or a wrist alarm indicator. 

Is there catering or a dining room?

Meals on wheels can be co-ordinated at an
extra cost.

What role does the Residents’ Committee play?

In quarterly meetings, the committee deals with matters of concern to the residents, including the approval of the annual budget.

They run functions throughout the year, including the monthly happy hour, Melbourne Cup day and other calendar events.

Are pets welcome?

No, pets are not allowed. We do recognise the value of pets and the companionship they provide, however we also recognise that domestic animals should not intrude on anyone’s quiet enjoyment of their home and village amenities.
